Dorothy L. Johnson, 74 of Mason City died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, April 2, 2004 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 ? 4th Street SE with Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM ? 7:00 PM on Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the St. James Lutheran Church Radio Fund or Hospice of North Iowa. Dorothy L. Buhr was born February 11, 1930 the daughter of August and Alma (Weber) Buhr. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church. Dorothy graduated from Mason City High School in 1948. Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator. For 26 years she was employed at Sears as a seamstress. Dorothy was united in marriage to Arthur ?Stan? Johnson on May 9, 1952 at the St. James Lutheran Church Parsonage in Mason City. Dorothy enjoyed crafts, sewing, ceramics, flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching and playing ?500? with her card clubs. Every night Stan and Dorothy would play cribbage and watched any sporting event. She was always in the kitchen preparing food and snacks for anyone who would drop by. Her greatest pride was in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Rebekah Circle, St. James Altar Guild and the St. James Craft Group. Those left to cherish the memory of Dorothy are her husband Stan of almost 52 years of Mason City; daughter, Kathy Follmuth and husband Bob of Mason City; son, Tom Johnson and wife Cindy of Chaska, Minnesota; son, Mike Johnson and fiancée Georgann Decker of Windsor Heights, Iowa (who will be married on April 4, 2004). Her grandchildren: Eric Follmuth and wife Kari, Carrie Braun and husband Greg, Katie, Jessica and Nick Johnson; great grandchildren Emily and Alexander Follmuth and Madison and Paige Braun; sisters, Arlene Berrie of Mason City and Lois Turkal and husband Frank of Lancaster, California; sister-in-law, Bernice Buhr of Mason City and numerous very special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: John and Roger Buhr and sister Laverna Paulsen.
