Dorothy Mae Wetter, 88, of Rock Falls, died on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the MercyOne Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the Old Stone United Methodist Church, 1 Jackson Street, Rock Falls.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave.
Interment will be held in the Rock Falls Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Old Stone United Methodist Church, 1 Jackson Street, Rock Falls or to MercyOne Hospice Inpatient Unit, 232 2nd St SE, Mason City.
Dorothy was born February 9, 1931 in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lucile (Low) Mathews. After attending schools in Northwood and Grafton she graduated from Mason City High School in 1949. Dorothy married Gerald (Jerry) Wetter of Rock Falls at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA on August 27, 1950. Dorothy was a farm wife and homemaker and her and Gerald raised 5 children on the farm.
Dorothy enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, camping, and dancing. She always enjoyed having family around and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Was always remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. Her smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by many and especially her friends at the Nora Springs Care Center where she spent the last 2 years of her life.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Mike (Becki) Wetter, Tom (Patti) Wetter, Jane (Mark) Heiny, Amy (Danny) Pike, Joe (Carol) Wetter. 12 grandchildren, Nathan Wetter, Brett (Angie) Wetter, Sam (Lindsay) Wetter, Jennifer Wetter (Ross Wyeno), Bill Heiny (Ashley Martin), Anna Heiny (Jeremy Dotzler) Travis Pike (Elizabeth Johnson), Derek (Amy) Pike, Rachel (Coy) VanHauen, Allison Pike (Jordan Popp), Gabe and Owen Wetter. 13 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Reef, Paisley, Asher Wetter, Nepkea & Abi Stroberg, Oliver Heiny, Theodore, Trista, Henry and Logan Pike, Gavin and Eli VanHauen. 2 sisters Margaret Jost, Mary (Jerry) Koerber, and brother George (Pam) Mathews 2 sisters-in-law Donna Faye McDonough, and Juanita Schubert, and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her parents George & Lucile (Low) Mathews and several brothers in-law.
