CLEAR LAKE: Dr. Charles B. Wilmarth, 70, of 1419 North Shore Drive, died Friday, January 9, 2009 in Tahiti. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue, Mason City with Rev. Jim Stiles and Rev. Jo Frahm Watkins officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Charles was born June 8, 1938 in Ocheyedan, Iowa the son of Curtis and Dorothy (Bellows) Wilmarth. He and his sister grew up on the family farm in Harris, Iowa and he maintained a lifelong interest in Iowa farming. Charles graduated from Harris High School in 1956. He married Karen Landhuis December 19, 1959 in Harris. Charles graduated from Morningside College, Sioux City, in 1960 and from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1964. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Kappa fraternity and was awarded membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. After completing an internship at Los Angeles County Hospital, he served in the Public Health Service in Toppenish, Washington for two years. Charles completed his residency in Radiology at the University of Iowa in 1970. He was a partner with Radiologists of North Iowa in Mason City from 1970 until his retirement in 1995. Charles was an active member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Mason City Country Club, and a supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed traveling, was an avid sailor and a member of the Clear Lake Yacht Club.

Charles is survived by his wife, Karen of Clear Lake; son, Steven Wilmarth of Ridgefield, Washington; daughters, Dr. Linda Wilmarth of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Susan Baker and husband Christopher of Oxford, Iowa; sister, Charlene Barnum and husband Royce of Sioux City; nieces, Rebecca Coleman of Edmond, Oklahoma and Rachelle Barnum of Sioux City.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church.
