MASON CITY: Dr. David L. Little, 70, of Mason City, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa under Hospice care. Memorial services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, August 31, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 100 S. Pierce with Rev. Paul Collier officiating. The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Hospice of North Iowa or charity of your choice.
David was born December 17, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Leslie T. and Katherine (Taetz) Little. The family moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska, where he was raised. After graduating from Tecumseh High School, he attended Hastings College and later graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1970. He completed a rotating internship at Lincoln General in Lincoln, Nebraska and then joined the US Navy for which he served in Gulfport, Mississippi, Charleston, South Carolina and Washington DC. David completed a Pediatric Residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. David and family moved to Mason City in 1975 to join the Park Clinic, and later founded the Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic with Drs. Fane, Justin and Garrett. As a physician he held clinical, hospitalist and administrative positions. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Little served the Mercy Medical Center and corporation, later Trinity, on local, regional, and national boards over many years. David was an avid fan of baseball, St. Louis Cardinals, and football, Nebraska Cornhuskers. He enjoyed running, small building projects, reading and playing with the family cats, Toby and Max. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and will be greatly missed.
David was a loving husband to Linda for 47 years and father to Thomas of Sugar Land, Texas and Maureen of New York, New York; He is also survived by his brother, John (Rosemary) Little of Neoga, Illinois; sister, Janet (Jerry) Martin of Neligh, Nebraska; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Benjamin Fauver of Menlo Park, California; Philip and Meredith Martin, William and Dale Little and Mark and Amy Fauver constitute the nieces and nephews.
