Edgar Paul “Red” Daugherty, 80, of Mason City, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at the VA Medical Center, Des Moines, IA. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Boscobel Cemetery, Boscobel, WI.
Edgar Paul Daugherty was born July 26, 1935 the son of Paul Leroy and Agnes (Muncie) Daugherty in Menominee, WI. After attending school in Peoria, IL he joined the United States Air Force. Ed served his country honorably until 1958, doing a tour of duty in Japan. In 1957 Ed was united in marriage to Frances Provenzano. To this union two sons were born, Paul and Nicholas.
Ed served the Rockford, IL area for 26 years as a firefighter. Upon his retirement from the fire department, Ed ventured west to embark on new adventures. Over the years he panned for gold, studied gaming, and met celebrities while working in the Las Vegas International Airport. He divided his time between traveling with his camper and visiting his sons and their families in Iowa and Nebraska.
Those thankful for having shared in Ed’s life include his sons, Paul (Kimberly) Daugherty, Nicholas (Susan) Daugherty, ten grandchildren, Kristin, Sarah, Brittany Daugherty, Jessica Martinez, Mackenzie Sanford, Katie, Molly, Daniel, Odeleine and Odnel Daugherty, one brother, Ron Daugherty, and three nieces, Pam (Ray) Labunski, Connie (Kendall) Koenig and Lauri Kennedy.
Mr. Daugherty was preceded in death by his parents.
