Edna M. Olson, 98, of Eden Prairie, MN, formerly of Mason City, IA, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Edna was born on October 22, 1913, in rural Emmons, MN, the daughter of Louis and Ella Leonhardi. She graduated from Emmons High School and continued her education at Waldorf College in Forest City, IA - receiving an AA Degree in 1937. She moved to Mason City to work and joined Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in many groups up into her eighties, and where she met Addison W. Olson, whom she married in June of 1939. After taking out some years for childcare, she returned to the work force and finished her career as secretary at Roosevelt Junior High School. Edna is survived by 3 children: Ellen Olson of Eden Prairie, Andrea Moore and husband John of Bloomington, MN, and John Olson and wife Linda of Maple Grove, MN; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer Olson of The Netherlands, James Moore of Minneapolis, MN, and Nathan Olson of Arlington, VA; 4 sisters: Dora Oney and Lucille Anderson – both of Waseca, MN, Lillian Andersen of Lake Mills, IA, and Nylene Sherman of Cambridge, MD. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue – Mason City, with Rev. Duane Miller of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Edna Olson memorial fund in care of the family.
