ESCONDIDO, CA: Edward H. Barlow, 87, of Escondido, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at home following a long battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place with burial at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, California. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or a memorial of your choice. Edward was born to Arthur and Bertha (Wilson) Barlow June 1, 1924 in Mason City, Iowa. After attending high school he joined the Navy in June of 1941. He served 22 years, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following retirement, he sold real estate and worked at Leisure World as a plumber. Edward is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marion Barlow of Escondido, California; daughter, Dixie (Lance) Latham and grandson, Curtis of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania; 2 sons, Doug and Derek Barlow and grandson, Wesley of California; 2 sisters, Betty Bernhardt of Mason City and Sharon (Garry) Taylor of Mason City; brother, Richard (Louise) Barlow of Belpre, Ohio; 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Barlow and Carol Barlow of Mason City; many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Mary Jane Nelson and Ruth Bailey; 4 brothers, Jerry and Jack Barlow, Vernon and Kenneth Moon.
