Eiko Young

June 10, 1924 — March 30, 2009

Mason City Eiko Young, 84, resident of Grant Village in Mason City, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Upon her wishes she was cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Eiko Young memorial fund.
Eiko Matsumoto was born June 10, 1924 in Tokyo, Japan. She was married to Calvin Young in Yokohama, Japan on March 27, 1959. Eiko married a service man and then returned to the United States with him. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on August 31, 1964. While in Mason City she worked for Kembles Greenhouse for many years, before moving to Des Moines to start her own floral business with her husband. She was divorced in 1975 and then moved back to Mason City and worked for Kembles Flowers until her retirement. She enjoyed caring for flowers and visiting with her friends.
She is survived by her special friends, Karen and Larry Day of Mason City, Allison Day of Wyoming, IA, Amber Day and fianc Matthew Andersen of Cincinnati, OH, Hiroko and Ricky Bohl of Mason City and their children and families, Carla and John and many other friends and acquaintances.
