MASON CITY Eileen Y. McKenzy, 90, of Mason City, died Friday, September 23, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2011, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Bob Beery officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Eileen Y. McKenzy Memorial Fund.
Eileen was born November 13, 1920, at her grandparents farm near Fertile, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Anna (Rholl) Field. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1938. On June 1, 1941, Eileen married Harold Speed McKenzy from Mason City. Eileen was such a happy, kind person. She always tried to be encouraging and complimentary. She loved life and was a wonderful homemaker. Family came first! Eileen was always there to support her two girls and help care for her grandchildren. She was very creative. She loved music and singing hymns. She made a decision for Christ at age fourteen and recommitted her life to Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1996 in Minneapolis. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Eileen is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Darwin) Smith of Shellsburg, IA and Karen (Gene) McGrath of Mason City; four grandchildren, Dana (Debbie) Smith of Marion, IA, Tonya (Mike) Elliott of Polk City, IA, Darren (Jen) Smith of San Antonio, TX, and April McKenzy of Mound, MN; eight great-grandchildren, Derek, Caitlyn, Jacob, Megan, Malachi, Holden, Teah, and Carter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Anna Field, and husband, Harold.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association, Trinity Lutheran Church or Chapel Hill Retreat, 274 370th St., Joice, Iowa, 50446.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation:
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
