Elaine Marie Alitz

Elaine M. Alitz, 78, of Mason City, died Friday, March 29th, 2019 at Mercy One in Mason City surrounded by family.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 6th, at 2:00 P.M. at the IOOF Home at 1037 19th St SW, Mason City with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Elaine, the daughter of Arthur and Amanda (Wogstadt) Anderson, was born February 17, 1941 in Deer Creek Township. She attended & graduated from Northwood H.S. In 1958. On April 22nd, 1959 she married THE LOVE OF HER LIFE, Harvey Alitz in Mason City. They lived all their married life in Plymouth and Mason City where they raised five children, Diane, Duane, Darrell, Deb and Doug. Elaine was employed with K-Mart for 26 years before retiring in the late 1990’s. Elaine loved her family and friends with all her heart. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her huge, infectious laugh!

Elaine is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Harvey, of Mason City; five children, Diane Alitz of Mason City, Duane (Barb) Alitz of Austin, MN, Darrell Alitz of Mason City, Deb (Tim) Thompson of Mason City and Doug (Laura) Alitz of Mason City; 7 grandchildren, Ryan (fiancé, Cassandra Anderson) Alitz, Travis (Jessica) Alitz, Amanda Alitz, Taylor (fiancé, Megan Ropella) Thompson, Casey (fiancé, Chelsea Smith) Thompson, Coty (Breanna) Thompson and Spencer Alitz; 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, LaVern Anderson of Lake Mills, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
