Eleanor Johannsen

Rockwell ? Eleanor Grace Johannsen, 97 of Rockwell and formerly of Mason City died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date in the spring. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue, (641)423-0924 is in charge of arrangements. Eleanor Grace Blumenstiel was born November 25, 1908 in Mason City the daughter of Carl W. and Adeline (Abendroth) Blumenstiel. She attended school in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1927. Eleanor was united in marriage to Karl Peter Johannsen on June 3, 1934 in Mason City. She was a member of First Christian Church in Mason City. Eleanor was known as the family seamstress, she would create clothing, draperies and quilts for any member of her family. Most of all Eleanor enjoyed spending time her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Carol Bishop and husband Wally of Palisade, Minnesota, Richard Johannsen and wife Lori of Sterling, Illinois, Marlene Rice and husband Harlan of Rockwell; nine grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Karl, four sisters, Arlene Harris, Margaret Brown, Laura Jean Rose and Charlotte Leaman. Major Erickson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
