Eleanor M. Nesje Miller

July 26, 1927 — October 1, 2015

GERMAN LAKE, MN: Eleanor M. Nesje Miller, 88, of German Lake, MN, and formerly of Fort Myers, FL and Mason City, IA, died Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Heritage Care Center following a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, October 5, 2015, at the First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams, with Rev. David H. Wagner Sr. officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Eleanor was born July 26, 1927, in Mason City, the daughter of Ira Ralph and Hazel Idella (Crumb) Leaman. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1945, and matriculated to Mason City Junior College. On June 28, 1947, she married Richard “Dick” Nesje at the First Christian Church and later married Sidney Edward Miller on April 25, 2006, in Fort Myers, FL. Eleanor worked as a librarian at Madison School in Mason City. She enjoyed lakeside living, especially hosting family gatherings. Winters were spent in Florida where she enjoyed many friends and outdoor activities. Eleanor was an excellent seamstress whose handwork included knitting and crafts. She also loved photography, music and traveling. Eleanor was associated with Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the First Christian Church. She was also involved with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Eleanor is survived by 3 children: David Nesje and wife Lori of Ketchikan, AK, Mary Beth Lamberton and husband Jeffrey of Etowah, TN, and Richard Nesje and wife Donna of Mason City; 6 grandchildren: Russell Nesje, Robert and Travis Lamberton, Nicole Smith, Jamie Abels, and Lindsay Reisdorfer; 11 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Ruth Stevens of Chubbuck, ID; and 1 brother: Dean Leaman of Columbia, MD.

She was preceded in death by her first husband: Dick Nesje; her second husband: Sid Miller; her parents: Ira and Hazel Leaman; 2 brothers: Robert Leaman and Ralph Leaman; and 1 sister: Mary Lou Chambers.
