Eleanor M. (Stricker) Miller Bixler

MASON CITY ? Eleanor (Stricker) Miller Bixler, 85 of Mason City died September 20, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 23, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 ? 8 PM on Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the Eleanor Bixler Memorial Fund. Eleanor was born on September 22, 1919 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gottfried and Margaret Stricker. She was baptized in Lincoln, Nebraska and confirmed in Algona, Iowa. Eleanor attended school at McKinley School in Mason City, and she also attended schools in Algona and Irvington, Iowa. On January 9, 1938 she was united in marriage to Henry Miller at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. They raised their family of four in Sioux City and Perry, Iowa. A few years following the death of her first husband Eleanor married to Larry Bixler of Dows. Following his death she moved to Mason City. Eleanor worked for ten years as a computer operator at A.C. Nielson Co. Among her interests throughout the years were reading, traveling, baking, dancing, playing cards and fishing. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Gary Miller and wife Betty of Mora, Minnesota, Tony Miller and wife Kathy of Mason City, Mike Miller of Mason City, and one daughter, Suzanne Jones and husband Charles of Forest City; and one brother, Robert Stricker of Mason City. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
