Eleanor Rae Bielefeld

Eleanor R. Bielefeld, 87, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, January 11, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday January 15, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Elmwood – St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, visitation will continue Friday one hour prior to services at the church.. Memorials may be directed to the Eleanor Bielefeld memorial fund in care of the family.

Eleanor was born June 27, 1928 in Iowa City, Iowa. Her parents were Forrest and Lennett Thompson. She married David Bielefeld on April 10 1949. They farmed in the Rockwell area. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed playing bingo with her many friends at Pilgram Place. She dearly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Eleanor was a loving mother & loyal friend known for her zest for life. Eleanor was a member of the First Baptist Church for several years. She was a Foster Grandparent at Jefferson Elementary. Working with the children at the facility brought her great enjoyment.

Eleanor is survived by her children Doug (Gayle) Bielefeld Fort Collins, Colorado, Barb (Bob) Lundt Caledonia, Minnesota, Ted Bielefeld Rockwell Iowa, Todd (Deb) Bielefeld Mason City, Iowa. nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.
