Elizabeth "Betty" A. Dye, 83, of Mason City died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, September 20th at Major Erickson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Elizabeth "Betty" A. Dye Memorial Fund.
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Dye, the daughter of Jesse and Josephine (Uhrich) McCoun, was born September 8, 1935 in Mason City. She attended Holy Family School in Mason City. On January 21, 1955 she was married to Gordon S. Dye in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To this union six children were born.
Betty had many job experiences throughout her life. As a teenager she worked as an elevator operator at the Hanford Hotel in Mason City, Her and Gordon owned and operated the Wheel Inn Restaurant locally and worked as a machine operator at Curtis 1000 where she would eventually retire from.
Betty enjoyed crocheting hats and gloves which she would donate to charity and she would make quilts and afghans for her family. She also enjoyed making rosary beads and being crafty. Betty loved spending time with her family and loved taking an annual trip to Adventure Land. Betty was involved in a Bible Study Group and was a member of the Grandmothers Club, both groups were very special to her as she made lifelong friends.
Betty is survived by her six children, Julie (Ken) Asbe, Sheryl (Craig) Arndt, Albert Daniel Dye, Paul (Becky Mathews) Dye, Mark Dye and Gordon (Theresa) Dye, Jr.; grandchildren, Erin (Travis) Shultz, Eric (Melanie) Asbe and Mike Asbe, Courtney (Brad) Mayer and Cole (Emily) Arndt, Whitney (John) Mixdorf and Colby (Lisa) Dye, Brookelyn (Shea) Gerber, Evan Dye and Montgomery (Casey) Dye; many great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Virgil Oman; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Josephine McCoun; her husband, Gordon; and siblings, Tom McCoun and Mary Orman.
