Elmer E. Billick Sr., 90, of Mason City, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 8, 2010 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Ron Stein and Rev. David Biddle of the First Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday (October 7, 2010) at Major Erickson Funeral Home with a Moose Service at 7:30 PM. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Elmer E. Billick Sr. Memorial Fund in care of the family. Elmer was born December 28, 1919 in Eddyville, Iowa, the son of William J. and Frances M. (Eberline) Billick. His family moved to Mason City in 1923, where he attended school. He married Carline M. Day on September 25, 1955 in Mason City. Elmer was a truck driver for Lehigh Cement Company for 37 years before retiring in 1984. Elmer enjoyed his family and helping others. Elmer was a member of and very involved in the First Baptist Church, the Clear Lake Evening Lions Club, the Moose Lodge, AA, and the River City Tri Club. He was also a member of the Cement, Lime & Gypsum Union # 106. Elmer is survived by his son: Clarence Billick and wife Mary of Kresgesville, PA; daughter: Darcy Saindon and husband Mike of Stuart, IA; step-son: Rodney McClain and wife Derra of Seguin, TX; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Lou and husband Lee Tully of Santa Ana, CA and Donna Jean Waters of Garden Grove, CA; special family friend: Penny Pattee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carline in 2006, his son: Elmer E. Billick Jr.; step-son: Rick McClain; grandson: John Ross Rezab; great granddaughter: Angelica (Awe) Billick; two brothers: William F. Billick and Jerry Lee Billick; three sisters: Maxine M. Billick Snell, Josephine M. Billick Dahl, and Hazel Bea Billick.
