Elsie L. Gabel, 93, of 304 3rd Street N.E. Apt. #410, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 North Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood ? St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM ? 8:00 PM Monday (April 30, 2007) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be given to the Elsie L. Gabel Memorial Fund. Elsie L. Gabel was born September 16, 1913 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Sophia (Nelson) Anderson. She graduated from Emmet Consolidated High School in 1932. Elsie married Fred Gabel on November 27, 1935 in Belmond, Iowa. They moved to Mason City in 1936 where she resided until her death except for four years when they lived in California after Fred?s retirement from Armours. They returned to Mason City in 1975. Elsie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church by transfer from Estherville Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She was active at Trinity Lutheran Church in years past by participating in Women?s Circle, Fellowship Choir, ushering, and being part of the prayer chain. Elsie was a volunteer helper at Good Shepherd Health Center, wheeling patients into church and communion. She also enjoyed visiting with the many patients there. Elsie is survived by her sons; Clark Gabel and wife Geri of Elmirage, Arizona, Roger Gabel and wife Theresa of Byron, Minnesota, Richard Gabel of Elmirage, Arizona, Alvin Gabel and wife Nancy of Mason City, Iowa; daughters, Joyce Allen and husband Don Jr. of Mason City, Iowa, Darlene Johnson of Mason City, Iowa and fiancé Bob Tucker of Kasson, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and 1 granddaughter.
