Elva V. Olsen

Elva V. Olsen, 83, of 847 6th Street SE, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at home. Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Mark Lavrenz, Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Alden Cemetery, Alden, Iowa. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Elva Olsen memorial fund. Elva was born July 9, 1925 in Alden, Iowa the daughter of Raymond E. and Anna E. (Graff) Olsen. She graduated from Alden High School then Hamilton Business College in Mason City. After graduating from Hamiltons, Elva moved to Washington DC where she worked for the FBI. She returned to Mason City in 1945and went to work for the North Iowa Abstract Company. She retired in 1987. Elva was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Elva is survived by her sister, Ardelle Packard of Santa Fe, New Mexico; brother, Glen W. Olsen and wife Mary Lou of Ballwin, Missouri; sister-in-law, Rosemary Olsen of Alden; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Elva is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Marlyn K. Olsen; brother-in-law, Joseph Packard; niece, Ann Thomas.
