Emma N. Long, 93 of Shakopee, Minnesota and formerly of Mason City died Monday, February 7, 2005 at St. Gertrude Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee, Minnesota. Funeral services for Emma will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the Rockwell United Methodist Church, 303 East Monroe Street in Rockwell with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 ? 7 PM Friday, February 11, 2005 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue. A memorial fund has been established in Emma?s name and will be directed to both the Iowa and Minnesota Libraries for the Blind. Emma was born in Bath Township, Cerro Gordo Count on August 6, 1911 the daughter of Loman and Violet (Norman) Wood. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1929. Emma taught school in Cerro Gordo County for 4 years and was a member of Rockwell United Methodist Church, the Bath Homemakers Club and an Own Farmerettes 4-H Club Leader. She married Lawrence E. Long on October 30, 1934. They farmed in Owen Township, Cerro Gordo County of over 40 years. Survivors include one daughter, Karen S. Fahler (Richard), one son, Gary M. Long (Betty), 10 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence and one son, Arlyn.
