Eunice Klinger

WALKER, MINNESOTA: Eunice Elizabeth (Nerdig) Klinger, 84 of Walker, Minnesota formerly of Mason City, died Monday, October 15, 2007 in Walker. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City with Rev. Jim Stiles, First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer?s Association. Eunice was born January 18, 1923 in Buffalo Center, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Nerdig. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School and obtained her ?high school normal training certificate? at the age of eighteen years and began teaching. This eventually took her to Callender, Iowa where she met her late husband, Manly E. Klinger. They were married June 6, 1948 in Buffalo Center, first living in Burt, Iowa, then moving to Mason City where they lived until 2001. While her children were young, Eunice was a stay at home mother teaching nursery school which her children attended. When her children were both in school she began teaching again. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree Magna Cum Laude from Upper Iowa University in Fayette on May 14, 1977. This was done while raising her family and teaching. Eunice was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City. She was active in church life and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also active in various clubs and charitable organizations. Eunice is survived by her daughter, Jean (Steve) Wardrip of Baxter, MN, son, Paul Klinger of Walker, MN, grandchildren, Adam (Candice) Wardrip of Shoreview, MN, Lisa Klinger, currently attending Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, Thomas Klinger of Walker, MN, sister, Marie Sandell of Bloomington, MN, several nieces and nephews. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Manly in 2001 and brother, Dean Nerdig in 2007
