Evelyn J. Zach

Evelyn J. Zach, 85, of Mason City, died Friday, March 24, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. According to Evelyn?s wishes, her body was cremated. A memorial service to honor Evelyn?s life will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at St. John?s Episcopal Church, 120 1st St. NE with Rev. Wendy Abrahamson officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. John?s Episcopal Church. Evelyn was born October 23, 1920 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of William and Hazel (Teal) Jones. She attended school in Oskaloosa and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1939. On April 16, 1943, she was united in marriage to Guy F. Zach, Jr. in Tucson, Arizona where Guy was stationed with the Army Air Corps. After the war, they returned to Oskaloosa then moved to Mason City in 1949 where they both worked at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Evelyn loved being out in nature, bird watching, and mowing her yard. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, and spending time with her sisters and other relatives. Evelyn is survived by her son, James Zach and wife Cynthia of Mason City; grandson, Evan Zach of Mason City; sisters, Eilene Suiter of New Sharon, Iowa, Johnnita Jones of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Shirley Wells and husband Vernie of Oskaloosa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Grace Zach of Fort Collins, Colorado; many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Guy; 2 brothers, William and Robert Jones and her parents.
