Evelyn M. Ludeman, 95, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Mason City, died Monday, October 15, 2006 at Hospice Family Care in Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday (October 20, 2006) at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Jim Stiles of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 ? 6 PM Thursday (October 19, 2006) at Major Erickson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice Family Care Foundation, 1550 South Alma Road, Ste. 102, Mesa, Arizona 85210. Evelyn was born August 21st, 1911, the daughter of Charles W. and Elsie (Berquist) Bistline in Altoona, PA. She moved with her family at an early age to Iowa and grew up on a farm east of Mason City. She graduated from the Mason City High School and the Calhoun Secretarial College, Minneapolis, MN. She was employed in the offices of Jacob E. Decker & Co. (later owned by Armour & Co.) until her marriage. She married Paul H. Ludeman on May 18, 1941, in the First United Methodist Church, Mason City. The couple made their home in North Hollywood, CA until he was drafted into World War II in 1943. During the war she returned to Mason City with her young son and lived with her parents until the war ended. They made their home in Mason City for many years where they raised their family. Evelyn was active in Harding Elementary P.T.A. and the Mason City High School Band Parents, serving as President of both organizations at one time. She was a member of Eta Chapter of Delta Theta Chi Sorority and a life long member of the First United Methodist Church, first in Mason City and later in Red Mountain United Methodist Church, Mesa, AZ. She belonged to the United Methodist Women in both churches. She was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as a leader when her children were in elementary school. In 1963 she was employed as Office Secretary for the First Christian Church where she worked until she retired in 1975. Following retirement she and her husband joined the Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club and traveled extensively in the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. In 1983 the couple moved to Mesa, AZ. Survivors include one son, Stephen P. Ludeman of Rhododendron, OR, two daughters, Linda K. Collier and husband Bill of Rockford, IL and Jean E. Kaput and husband Greg of Fallbrook, CA. Also surviving are four grandsons, one granddaughter and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1995, her grandson Soren in 1999, two brothers, Russell and Edward, two sisters Marian Frahm and Marcella Gullickson and her parents.
