Fern E. Keough

MASON CITY Fern E. Keough, 88, of Mason City, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, (July 27, 2009) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. Mark Lavrenz of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be held in St. Johns Cemetery, rural Garner. There will be no visitation, upon Ferns request she will be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Fern E. Keough memorial fund in care of the family.
Fern E. Keough was born June 8, 1921 in rural Ventura, Iowa the daughter of William and Alvina (Boehnke) Pueggel. She attended and graduated from Ventura High School. She was married to Clifford Keough on September 1, 1941 in St. Joseph, MO. They lived in Dougherty, Clear Lake, and moved to Mason City in 1948. She loved taking care of her home and also her one child, Richard. Fern enjoyed tending to her flowers and her garden in her younger years. She was known for her excellent cooking and was a talented embroiderer. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Dick) Keough of Mason City; grandson, Richard Keough Jr. Fresno, CA; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Magdaline Pueggel; brother, Luther Pueggel; daughter-in-law, Deanna Keough, and many other relatives.
