Florence Combs

Florence Combs, 91, of Mason City died Friday, August 23, 2004. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 22, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa and the Mason City Public Library. Florence, the daughter of Peter and Johanna Jensen was born in Rock Falls, Iowa on August 4, 1913 where she was educated and raised. In 1943 she married Harold Combs in Pasadena, California and lived on the west coast while her husband was in England during World War II. They returned to Mason City where she was very active with her husband in their bridge construction business. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sarah Circle, Mason City Country Club and the North Central Genealogical Society. She is survived by son, Brian Combs and wife Jo and their children, Heather and Nathan of Ankeny, daughter; Marcia Charles, husband Ken and children Seth, Taryn, and Kegan of Arvada Colorado, sister, Pearl Barr of Mason City, and good friend and neighbor, Marilyn Korte. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Clarence, Elmer, and Herbert, sisters; Soph Cutler, Mary Bliss, Clara Lombardo, Nora Thomas, Della Elliott, and Olive Wadick.
