Mason City Forrest R. Bud Cerney, age 80, of Mason City, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Manly Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 East South St. with Pastor Don Preston officiating. Upon Buds wishes he was cremated and there will be no visitation. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Forrest R. Bud Cerney memorial fund in care of the family. Forrest Russell Cerney was born February 21, 1930 in rural Manly, IA the son of Ezra and Eva (Boggs) Cerney. He attended school in Plymouth. Bud was a life-long truck driver until his retirement. After retirement he worked at House of Sports in Mason City. Bud was married to Joan Swanson on October 24, 1992 in Mason City. Bud enjoyed tinkering in his garage on his various projects, restoring old hot rods and working on antique cars. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Bud also enjoyed the time he spent in Texas during the winter months with his wife Joan. Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bud is survived by his wife, Joan Cerney; daughters, Cindy (John) Maskarina, Cheryl (Bert) Cassels; step-children, Steve (Debbie) Brown, Sheila (Paul) Ponce, and Shelly (Scott) Stoltenberg; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Mercer; brother, Royal (Judy) Cerney; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eleanor Cerney, two sisters, and one brother-in-law.
