MASON CITY: Frances M. Hostetler, age 85, died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27th at the First Christian Church, 318 North Adams, with Pastor Charles Aurand officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday (December 26, 2008) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.\r\n
Frances was born July 31, 1923 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Leonard F. and Mae A. (Reddington) Paine. She attended and graduated from Mason City High School. She married Strobel E. Hostetler on December 1, 1942 in Mason City. After marriage she moved to San Antonio, TX while her husband was in the service. After the service they returned to Mason City and she went to work for Damons Department Store as a bridal consultant for 25 years. After retirement she volunteered for the American Cancer Society and also R.S.V.P, she also volunteered as a teachers aide at St. Josephs Catholic School for several years. She loved children and was known for always having balloons on hand to give to the kids. Frances received the KIMTs Giving Your Best Award in November of 2002. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting and also traveling, she also loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was involved in the Choir and Bell Choir and the many womens groups.\r\n
Frances is survived by her children, Randal Hostetler and wife Judy of Marlette, MI, Yvonne Willcox of Yorktown, VA, C. Sterling Hostetler and wife Linda of Minneapolis, MN, Holly Richman and husband Gary of Westminster, MD; three grandchildren, Trent Hostetler, Garrett Hostetler and wife April, and Justin Willcox; great grandchildren, Shannon Hostetler and one expected great grandson; sisters, Juanita Smith of WA and Barbara Elderidge of CA; half siblings, Leo Paine of TX, Leona Livingston and husband David of TX, Leland Paine and wife Nancy of Mason City, Lyle Paine of Mason City and Lila McCollum and husband Tim of Mason City.\r\n
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Strobel; and son-in-law, Dennis Willcox.
