MASON CITY: Frederick H. Carson, 76, of Mason City, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit after a 2 year courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church, 1807 South Kentucky, with Rev. Miles Grismore officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 7PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and one hour prior to the church service. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Fred Carson memorial fund.
Frederick Harold Carson was born on October 29, 1931 to August and Myrtle (Mensink) Carson. He attended McKinley, Monroe, and graduated from Mason City High School in 1950.
Fred was united in marriage to Nina Timmreck on October 1, 1955 at Grace Baptist Church. They were blessed with one son, Raymond Carson. Fred worked at Food City Grocery Store for 2 years, Armour and Company for 34 years, and Hy-Vee East for 10 years.
Fred was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Mason City Mohawk, and Chicago Cub fan! He was on the chain and was ball boy at the Mohawk and NIACC football games for 33 years. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mason City. He cherished the fellowship of all the saint and the Old Faithfulls. He loved spending time and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He belonged to a local P-39 United Food Commercial Workers, where he was a Recording Secretary and Vice President.
Fred is survived by his wife, Nina Carson; son, Raymond Carson (Mason City, IA) Grandson, Michael (Jenny) Carson (Mason City, IA); Granddaughter, Stephanie Hernandez (Teodoro Morales) (Goodell, IA); and great-granddaughter, Bianca Hernandez; great grandson, Tristan Morales; Brother-In-Law, Ronald (Carolyn) Timmreck (Williston, ND); Sisters-In-Law, Lorna Casey (Billings, MT), Betty Shephard (Long Beach, WA), Janette Timmreck (Minot, ND), Lois Timmreck (Kalispell, MT), Mildred (Pete) Lee (Williston, ND), and Marlene (Hugh) Keever (Epping, ND). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Bonnie and Belvia; two brothers in infancy; Brother-In-Law, Keith Timmreck, Sister-In-Law, Gloria Barrett and mother and father in law, Laura and Marion Timmreck.
The family would like to thank Dr. Timpe, Dr. Congello, and staff at the Heart Center, the nurses and aides at 6-West, West Campus, and also hospice for their loving care.
