French Cleo C.

Cleo C. French, 77 of Mason City died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Lois Abel of the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation for Cleo will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Cleo?s name. Cleo was born November 15, 1925 the daughter of Leo and Clara (Hachmeister) Watrous in Orange Township, Iowa. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1943. On July 14, 1951 Cleo was united in marriage to William M. French at Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City and they spent many wonderful years together until William?s death on February 24, 1972. Cleo was a partial owner of Buffalo Lanes in Buffalo Center until she sold the business and retired in 1986. Following her retirement Cleo returned to Mason City where she began to work for the Family Bowl in Mason City for over 15 years. She enjoyed the time she spent at the bowling alley being able to cook and visit with so many people. Cleo was dearly loved by so many people and will be sadly missed by all those who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory are: Son ? William E. French and wife Denise of Buffalo Center, Iowa; Daughter ? Kathy Rasmussen and husband Robin of Grafton, Iowa; 3 Grandchildren ? Sgt. Wm. ?Chip? French of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, Michael J. Belton of South Carolina, and Robby and Billy Jo Rasmussen of Grafton. 2 Sisters ? Mrs. Kenneth (Neva) Wood of West Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Harlod (Verna) Pomeroy of Coon Rapids, Iowa 2 Sister-in-laws ? Ora ?Bob? Watrous of Coon Rapids, Iowa and Evelyn Peterson of Colorado. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, and one brother, Lyle Waterous.
