Mr. George Mathew Rink, 64, of Flowery Branch, Georgia passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 in Georgia. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Church of Christ, 414 North Main St., Clarion, IA with the Pastor Warren Curry officiating. Interment will be held in Clarion Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the George M. Rink memorial fund in care of the family.George Rink was born August 3, 1945 in Belmond, Iowa the son of Mathew and Bertha (Brown) Rink. George graduated from Clarion Schools in 1963 and attended Ellsworth Junior College in Iowa Falls. Throughout the years George worked in various cities as a Scale Engineer, which he loved since he would not retire. In his younger years you could find him at roller rinks, boating, fishing, playing the guitar and shooting pool. Georges greatest and most enjoyable passion was riding his motorcycle, he rode all over the country and made many trips to Iowa to see his children and grandchildren. George was very proud of his family, he loved to just sit back and take it all in. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was survived by his wife, Mabel Rink of Flowery Branch, Georgia; daughter, Lisa M. Lane and husband David of Mason City, Iowa; sons, Mathew J. Rink and wife Kristie of Loganville, George A. (Tony) Carlson and wife Tracey of Pekin, Ill., Douglas M. Rink and wife Nissa and David A. Rink and wife Jenny, all of Des Moines, Iowa., Timothy Lucas Rink and Jerry Wayne Rink, both of Flowery Branch; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Bertha Rink; and sisters, Mary Margaret Weir and Georgia Rink.
