George S. Gelner

MASON CITY: George S. Gelner, 79, of Mason City, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 7 at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Jim Magelssen, Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no visitation. \r\n
George Gelner was born October 16, 1929 in Crystal Lake, IA. He attended schools in Hayfield, Iowa and Mason City. He was a strong supporter and member of the Democratic Party. In his younger years, George enjoyed roller-skating.\r\n
George is survived by his daughter Wendy and husband Jeff LaPitz of Lakeville, MN; two grandchildren, Danielle and Adam LaPitz; two sisters, Carol and husband Harold Cary of Mason City, Joan Bonner of Swaledale, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.\r\n
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Opal Gelner; brother, Darol LeRoy.
