Gerald "Jerry" Schultz

Gerald W. "Jerry" Schultz, 84, of Mason City, died Wednesday February 22, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Private family graveside services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Jeni Bohls of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Jerry was born December 2, 1932 the son of Walter and Arlene Schultz in Waupun, WI. He graduated from Waupun High School with the class of 1950. On December 26, 1953 Jerry was united in marriage to Donna M. Hannon at Trinity Lutheran Church, Green Bay, WI. To this union two children were born. Over the years Jerry has been the City Assessors Building Inspector for the Cities of Waupun and Waupaca, WI, worked for Millcraft Housing Corp. in Waupaca, WI and Clear Lake, IA and was a district manager for Moorman Feeds in Clear Lake and Carroll IA.

Jerry's love for sports was evident in his passion for the Green Bay Packers which he rarely missed watching their games on TV when he couldn't be at Lambeau Field. He enjoyed bowling, curling, golfing and spending time relaxing while fishing. Jerry enjoyed reading, working in his garden and spending time outdoors observing all nature had to offer. His love of family came before other activities and he was very proud of all their achievements. He looked forward to having coffee with his friends on a daily basis. Over the years Jerry was very active in Rotary International and Lion's Club in which he was a former district governor. He was a proud member of the National Guard for 9 years. Jerry was very active in church activities and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Those thankful for having shared in Jerry's life include his wife, Donna of Mason City; son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Schultz of Rockwell, IA; daughter, Mary Ellen (Mitchell) Smith of Mason City, IA; sister, Barbara Strade of Madison, WI; four grandchildren, Blake Schultz of Mason City, IA, Brock Schultz of Marshall, MN, Mikayla (Dalton) Olson of West Des Moines, IA, Brett Smith of Mason City, IA; one niece, Julene (Bret Harris) Strade; one nephew, Keith Strade.

Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in law, Earl Strade.
