Gladys Dosen

MASON CITY Gladys Dosen, 88, of Mason City, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Manly Care Center in Manly.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 14, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with Pastor Tom Healey Chaplain of North Iowa officiating.  Interment will be held in Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. 
 
Gladys was born on July 30, 1919 in Mason City, the daughter of Reinholt and Elizabeth (Somers) Schmidt.  She was confirmed and later married on June 1, 1947 to Mike Dosen at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Gladys enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchild, and great grandchildren.  She was a competitive bowler and also enjoyed reading and cooking.  
She is survived by her 3 children:  Kristine Van Wert and husband Lawrence of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael Dosen of Mason City and Kathy Clapper and husband Michael of Burt, IA;  1 grandchild:  Michele Lawson of Mason City; 2 great grandchildren:  Hunter and Alexis.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews. 
 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike in 1999; 1 brother and 3 sisters.
