Gordon G. Paul

August 8, 1917 — March 10, 2008

Gordon G. Paul, 89, of Mason City, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 South Main St., with Rev. Gary Van Wert of Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles City officiating.  Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, IA.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa memorial fund.
 
Gordon was born August 8, 1917 in Alpha, Iowa the son of Oscar and Mayme (Selig) Paul.  The family moved to Charles City early in Gordons life.  He graduated from Charles City High School in 1936.  Following high school, Gordon took training in Medical Technology in St. Louis, MO.
Gordon and Violet Hodges were married in Charles City on March 2, 1941.  Both were employed at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital where he was a lab technician and she was a registered nurse.  They lived in Charles City until 1945 when Gordon joined the offices of Dr.s Morgan and Morgan in Mason City.  While in Mason City, Gordon was active in volunteer work for both the Girl and Boy Scouts.  For many years, he helped with the set-up of Camp Gaywood (now Camp Tanglefoot).  He also led the Wilson School Boy Scout Pack.  He and Violet were members of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City.  In 1965 Gordon became a registered Nuclear Technologist, and he and Violet moved to Kenosha, WI.  He was head of the nuclear technology department of Kenosha General Hospital.  After Gordons retirement in 1982, he and Violet returned to Charles City.  Gordon was a member of the Charles City Art Association and the Floyd County Historical Society.  He frequently gave tours of the Floyd County Museum.  He and Violet were active in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City.
 
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Susan Warner and husband David of Des Moines, IA; two grandsons, Paul Bosveld and wife Mary of Dubuque, IA, and Mark Bosveld and wife Jeanette of Marshall, MN; five great-grandchildren; brothers, George Paul of Waterloo, and Robert Paul of Burlington.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Violet, and two sisters, Marian Kruk and Erla Waldermer.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.

Service:
Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.
