Greg McNamara

Gregory S. McNamara, 46, Mason City, IA died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his home. A celebration of life visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a time of sharing at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111N. Pennsylvania Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Greg McNamara memorial fund in care of the family.

Greg was born May 8, 1969,in Mason City, the son of Lanny H. and Bonnie J. (Wachendorf) McNamara. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1988, and continued his education at Kansas City Diesel Engine School. He worked for Harrison Truck Center in Clear Lake. Greg enjoyed spending time with his friends and family – especially his granddaughter Makayla. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends, working on bikes and BBQ’s. He was a great chef and the “host with the most”.

Greg is survived by 2 sons: Codie McNamara and wife Marissa of Charlotte, NC and Jacob McNamara and wife Hannah of Charlotte; 1 granddaughter: Makayla McNamara; 2 brothers: John McNamara and wife Dariel of Perry and Lanny McNamara of Charlotte; 2 special aunts: Carol Willier of Mason City and Audrey Warner and her family of Mason City; 2 nephews: Levi McNamara and wife Morgan of Mason City and Austin McNamara and wife Haley of Mason City; nieces: Melissa, Mariah, and Amy McNamara of Perry; great nephew: Elijah McNamara; great-niece: Zoe McNamara; cousin: Jen Nash and husband Josh of Glenwood; and 2nd cousins: Julius, Zachary and Saraya Nash. He is also survived by many great friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lanny Sr. and Bonnie McNamara; Grandparents; aunt: Peggy Wachendorf; and great aunt: Bonnie Stoneking.
