Gregory S. Poulos, 56, of 1000 Illinios Ave. Apt. 503, died Sunday (December 19, 2004) at his home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 27, 2004 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Kenneth Hatland of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Gregory S. Poulos fund. Gregory was born March 14, 1948 in Mason City, the son of Sam and Mary Lou (Larson) Poulos. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1966. He entered the United States Navy in November 1967 and served in the Vietnam War until being honorably discharged in 1971. He married Sally Brasch on March 16, 1979. To this union, a son, Christopher was born. Greg worked for Armour foods for thirteen years. He then drove school bus for Clear Lake and Mason City school districts. He loved driving ?his kids? to and from school everyday. Greg was an avid golfer, he enjoyed playing on the ?North Iowa? golf tour and competing against and playing with his brother Al. He was the Mason City?s Men?s Champion in 1972. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and Iowa Hawkeye sporting events. He especially loved and cherished time spent with his children. Greg is survived by his children Christopher Polous, Kimberly Opstvedt and her husband Shawn; parents, Sam and Mary Lou Poulos, all of Mason City; brother, Al and wife Lori; nephew and niece, Spencer and Kinsey of Hampton, Iowa; Sally Emerson-Brasch of Mason City; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Greg is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gardia and Joseph Larson; paternal grandparents, Christ and Irene Poulos; aunt, Kathryn Trigas; uncle, Harlan Larson, and special friend from the Vietnam War, Michael Schroeder.
