Gwenyth Cory

Gwenyth “Gwen” A. Cory, 85 of Mason City, died Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111. N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Kent Mechler, Chaplain, Good Shepherd Health Center officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorials may be given to the Gwen Cory Memorial Fund. Gwen was born February 9, 1930 in Mason City the daughter of Merlin and Wilma (Borchardt) King. She graduated from Mason City High School. Gwen married Herman “Skeeter” Cory December 18, 1948 in Northwood, Iowa. She was employed by Mercy Hospital where she worked in housekeeping. Gwen was a past member of the Moose Lodge and Lunker Club. She always enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. Gwen is survived by her children, Richard (Kim) Cory of Mason City and Karen Christensen of Charles City; grandchildren, Christie Helmer and special friend Perry, Lynn Helmer, Damon Cory, Benjamin (Lisa) Cory, Jami Hepperly and special friend Steve, Lindsey (Chris) Schultz; great grandchildren, Brayden Hepperly, Avery Strasheism, Whitney Schultz, Ryan and Ranee Helmer; brothers, Duane “Bud” (Carol) King of Mason City, Douglas (Jeanie) King of Mason City and Theodore (Janet) King of Ohio; sister-in-law, Carol King of Mason City. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman (Skeeter) in 1999; son, Michael, daughter, Judith; brothers, Jerry and Keith King.
