Harold E. Schultz

June 15, 1934 — April 12, 2008

BAY CITY, MI:  Harold E. Schultz Sr., 73, of Bay City, MI, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday April 12, 2008 at his home.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday (April 19, 2008) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Alan Sheldon of Church of Christ officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Harold Schultz Memorial Fund. 
 
Harold was born June 15, 1934 in Bloomfield, NE, the son of Ernest T. and Katherine (Opkis) Schultz.  He graduated from Bolan High School and also attended NIACC.  Harold served in the Army from 1955 1957.  He was employed at the Monitor Sugar Co. as a Chief Engineer for 14 years until his retirement in 1988.  He also worked at the Brick and Tile and at American Crystal Sugar in Mason City. 
 
Harold enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and crocheting.  He was known as the Scooter Man because he loved to ride his scooters around town.  He shared this passion with his grandchildren, as he took them on scooter trips.  Harold also liked to fix things (small engines).  He always kept busy.
 
He was a member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge. 
 
Harold is survived by his children:  Shirley Bernhardt and husband Mark of Auburn, MI, Donna Schultz of Midland, MI, Kurt Schultz and partner Jeanne Lennon of Bay City, MI, Harold Schultz Jr. and partner Thomas Zwick of Midland, and Lee Schultz and wife Tammy of Bay City;  10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister:  Lucille Billick of Meservey; one brother:  Don Schultz and wife Lorilla of Kingsport, TN. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister:  Shirley Kasmea; one brother:  Jim Schultz; and one grandchild in infancy.
