Harold J. Clark, 80, rural Plymouth, died Wednesday (February 18, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday (February 22, 2004) at the Plymouth United Methodist Church with Rev. Wendy Johannesen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue Sunday one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Harold J. Clark Memorial Fund. Harold was born November 7, 1923 in Clear Lake the son of Frank and Erma (Wetmore) Clark. He was raised on a farm near Clear Lake where he acquired his love of the land. He served in the US Navy during WW II in the Philippines and New Guinea. Harold married Frances Schossler November 7, 1946. Harold and Frances farmed near Rockwell for one year and then moved to the Plymouth area in 1949 where he continued to farm until his death. He also worked as a salesman in the area for Pioneer Seed for 28 years. Harold was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist Church for fifty-four years. Harold served on the Worth County Soil Conservation Board and the Plymouth Elevator Board. Harold was admired and respected by his many friends for his love of family, work ethic, integrity and an excellent golf game. Like all farmers, Harold liked sunshine, good food, especially the fresh fish that his grandsons would catch, the county fair, dinner at noon, his neighbors, his shirt collar unbuttoned and above all, a good soaking rain in August. If Harold was not in the fields or at the golf course, he was enjoying watching his grandson wrestle or play ball. Harold never met a stranger. He could create a connection with anyone that he met. ?Dad did it his way?. Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances of Plymouth; daughter, Linda Fruland and husband Robert of Minneapolis, MN; Dave Clark and wife Kay of Plymouth, Dan Clark and wife Vicki of Plymouth; 4 grandsons, Ben and Alan Fruland of Minneapolis, MN, Bryan Clark of Plymouth, T.J. Clark of Plymouth; granddaughter, Amber Clark of Mason City; brother, Robert Clark and wife Mary of Mason City; sisters, Maxine Bacon of Clear Lake, Phyllis Shimek and husband Cletus of Charles City, Barbara Roenfanz and husband Robert of Mountain Home, AR and Erma Lou Smith and husband Jerry of Mountain Home, AR. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marjorie Toppin and her husband Paul; brother, Morris Clark and his wife Barb; brother-in-law, Louis Bacon.
