Harold L. Cook, 91, of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Ed Bard, Chaplain – Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Harold Cook memorial fund in care of the family. Harold was born June 3, 1923, in Mason City, the son of Joseph and Grace (McNary) Cook. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1941. Harold married Betty L. Anderson on February 2, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN. Over the years he worked for Ray E.Pauley Co. and Mid-West Roofing Company as a sheet metal worker until his retirement in 1988. He belonged to the Sheet Metal Workers Union and was the Shop Steward. During his lifetime Harold enjoyed bowling on a league, tinkering with cars, going to car shows, taking Sunday drives or day trips along the Mississippi River, being outdoors doing yard work, and having lunch at Pro’s Sandwich Shop. He was also known to make up silly, out of tune songs that made many family members smile. Harold is survived by 1 daughter: Barb Rawlings and husband Dennis of Mason City; 2 grandchildren: Elizabeth Rawlings of Mason City and Logan Rawlings of Mason City; 1 great grandson: Kayden Graves; and special friend: Dorothy Fagerle of Mason City. He is also survived by one niece, one nephew, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1999; 1 sister: Betty Huff; and 1 brother: Stanley Shinstine.
Cemetery:
Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
