MASON CITY: Harriet A. Pedelty, 91, of Mason City, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Country Meadow Place. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM Monday December 11, 2017, at Epiphany Parish St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 5th St SE with Father Austin Wilker officiating. Visitation will take place at 9:00 AM Monday. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made out to Hospice of North Iowa 232 2nd St SE, Mason City, IA 50401 or the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. The family also wishes to thank all of the staff at Country Meadow Place for all of the work that they do.
Harriet Ann Pedelty was born February 16, 1926 to parents Harry and Florence (McGuire) Doyle.
She grew up in and attended Clear Lake High School and would go on to attend Hamilton Business College. On June 22, 1948 Harriet was united in marriage to Robert Pedelty at the St Patrick Catholic Church in Clear Lake. Harriet spent many years as a member of the PEO club and the Pleasant Ridge women’s club. She loved her family and her dogs Snooki and Mike. Harriet loved reading and loved to learn new things, at the age of 50 Harriet took up the sport of golfing and even learned how to play the organ.
She was very passionate about painting, whether it be oil or water painting Harriet had numerous books detailing different techniques and tricks to becoming a better painter. Together Harriet and Bob would frequent the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake to ballroom dance and until recent years would do so since the 1940’s; in their later years the two enjoyed traveling taking 4 trips to Europe and spending 10 winters in Texas.
Harriet is survived by her husband: Robert Pedelty, son: Kirk (Linn) Pedelty, Roxanne (Rick) Barnett, Marsia Pedelty; sister: Patricia Jacobsen; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Florence Doyle.
