Harris C. Dillabough

Mason City Harris C. Dillabough, age 90, of Mason City, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A private family committal service will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Harris was born on January 24, 1920, in Mason City, the son of Harry and Tina (Johnson) Dillabough. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1938 and also attended Mason City Jr. College. On September 21, 1940, he married Marie Palenyk in Mason City. Harris worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 17 years, co-owned the Organ Tap Tavern in Manly in the 1950s and in later years worked in sales. He was a life member of the Elks and the Moose Lodge and was a former Mason. Harris was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Harris enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing and playing cards, especially poker. He also enjoyed being a snow bird in Texas. Harris is survived by his daughter: DeAnne Gillard and husband John of Mason City; one granddaughter: Heather Black and husband Mark of Clear Lake; one grandson: Doug Gillard of Mason City; two great granddaughters: Alexis Mariner and Dakota Tarr, both of Clear Lake; one sister: Phyllis Waldron of Austin, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years: Marie Dillabough, and his mother: Tina Kahler.
