Hazel M. Barloon

Hazel M. Barloon, 82, of Mason City, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave, with a graveside service to follow in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Hazel Marie Barloon was born on November 21, 1941, to parents Frank and L. Ruby (Beer) Maynard in Kanawha, Iowa. Hazel graduated from Kanawha High School. On June 3, 1959, Hazel was united in marriage to Robert E Seaton. The couple were blessed with three children: David, Connie, and Brenda. Hazel was later remarried on October 6, 1978, Charles D. Barloon in Forest City and they were together until Chuck’s passing in 2010.

Hazel was employed at Winnebago Industries for 30 years.  She was active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Circle Club, Senior Center, and Rebekah Lodge. Hazel enjoyed going to restaurants and visiting with friends, reading, sewing, and doing a variety of crafts, including loom weaving rugs. She loved doing those so much she started her own sewing and craft business and did so for many years. She loved being a part of the “Welcome Wagon” at Kentucky Ridge, greeting guests and residents. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend will be dearly missed by those who knew her and loved her. 

Hazel is survived by her children, David Seaton (Megge Fleming), Connie (Larry) Todey, and Brenda Seaton; four grandchildren, Steven, Lennox, Nathaniel, and Noah; three stepchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Barloon; sister, Jennie; and brothers, Ray and Jimmie.
