MASON CITY Helen F. Martin, 89, of Mason City, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, May 13, 2011, at First Covenant Church, Hwy 122 at South Ohio, with Rev. Tammy Swanson-Draheim officiating. Inurnment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed to Opportunity Village, 1200 N. 9th St. W, Clear Lake, IA 50428.

Helen F. Martin was born June 30, 1921, in Blue Earth, MN, the daughter of Lee and Elsie (Shaw) Arganbright. She graduated from High School. She was married to Clement L. Red Martin on June 8, 1939 in Graettinger, IA. She was a life-long Mason City resident. Helen worked for Gordons Jewelry for thirty years in sales. In Helens free time she enjoyed exercising and staying fit, golfing, and traveling in her earlier years and also enjoyed reading. Helen liked going to the movies with her daughter, Lisa. She loved the time she spent with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Jeri Skram and husband Stephen of Des Moines, IA, Deborah Dunn and husband Jim of Waterloo, IA, Kim Bendickson and husband Rick of Mason City, Lisa Martin of Clear Lake, IA; son, Thomas L. Martin and wife Sandy of Montrose, CO; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Ione Fleming and Joan Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Clement L. Red Martin in 1979.

Memorials may be directed to Opportunity Village, 1200 N. 9th St. W, Clear Lake, IA 50428.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
