Helen Heminger, 74, of Mason City, IA, passed away quietly in her sleep Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at her home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Helen was born September 2, 1942, in Keewaunee, WI, the daughter of Harold and Queenie (Jury) Mattson. In 1960, she graduated from Jones Commercial High School in Chicago, IL. On August 25, 1980, she married Wesley A. Heminger in Mason City. Helen was an artist and worked for Framers Gallery before retiring. Helen enjoyed pottery, needle work, knitting, quilting and art. She also enjoyed taking classes and teaching at MacNider Art Museum. She was an avid collector of many things. Helen was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Helen is survived by 2 daughters: Karyn Torkelson and partner Susan of Shakopee, MN and Patti Sawyer of Minneapolis, MN; 3 grandchildren: Tanner Hennen of Shakopee, and Nathan Willard of Shakopee, Persis Sawyer; sister: Lois Juenger of Carpenter, IA; brother: David Mattson and wife Joyce Cape Coral, FL; nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Marsters and significant other Bambi Euich of Garner, IA, Rob and Monica Klinke of Chicago, and Greg Mahalich and wife Teri of Minnetonka, MN; great nieces and nephews: Jennifer Guyer and husband Jay of Key West, FL, Justin Marsters and wife Megan of Farmington, MN, and Elisabeth and R.J. Klinke of Chicago. She is also survived by many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2002; sister: Norma Jean Petersen; niece: Jeanine Marsters; nephews: Steve Mattson and Michael Mahalich.
