Helen Jean Ellis

CEDAR RAPIDS: Helen Jean Ellis, 87, of Cedar Rapids formerly of Mason City, died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Arbor Place, Cedar Rapids. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. There will be no visitation. Helen was born January 29, 1928 in Lu Verne, Iowa the daughter of Josiah and Helen (Miller) Stauffacher. She graduated from Lu Verne High School and moved to Mason City in 1946. Helen married Harold A. Ellis June 21, 1947 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Helen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Helen is survived by her daughter, Laura (Jon) Scoles of Cedar Rapids; son, Dan (Bonnie) Ellis of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Matt Ward, Molly (Andrew) Olsasky and Sarah Hartel; great grandson, Lucas. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert; husband, Harold.
