Mason City, Iowa Henrietta F. Floden, age 95, of Mason City, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Friday, January 15, 2010, at First United Methodist Church WAYside Chapel, 119 South Georgia Ave. with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with an Eastern Star service at 6:00 PM and also one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church and Hospice of North Iowa.
Henrietta F. Floden was born March 3, 1914, the daughter of Ira L. and Ida J. (Lister) Shaner in Clarion, Iowa. She and her family moved to Mason City in 1923 and she attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1932. She was married to Vernon Tommy M. Floden on March 8, 1941 in Mason City, IA. She was employed at Curries Hardware Store for fourteen years, Allis Chalmers for sixteen years and then United Dairy as a Computer Operator for eleven years until her retirement in 1975. After retirement Henrietta and her husband moved to Weslaco, TX where they lived until she returned back to Mason City in 2003 after her husbands death in 2000. She lived at Kentucky Ridge Assisted Living until moving to Good Shepherd Health Center in 2008. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a former member of B.P.W. and Wan Tan Ye and also a faithful long-time member of the First United Methodist Church.
Aunt Hank was a wonderful, thoughtful, compassionate, precious woman, who loved all her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Henriettas family would like to express a special thanks to Good Shepherd Care Center for the wonderful, compassionate care that she received over the last few years.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Tommy Floden in 2000; her parents; three brothers, Howard, Louis and Harry Shaner; sisters, Clara Shaffer, Pearl Gettman and Ione Lester.
