Henry A. Peterson, 95, of 1003 N. Polk, died Wednesday (April 13, 2005) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. James Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Harrison Township Cemetery, Swea City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Henry A. Peterson Memorial Fund. Henry was born in Callender, Iowa the son of Louis and Nettie (Holcolmb) Peterson on December 12, 1909. The family moved to Swea City in 1914. He graduated from Swea City High School. In 1933 Henry attended the Coyne Electrical School to learn motor winding and repair. In 1934 he began working for Wind Power Electric and in 1936 Henry began working for Motor Winding Service, winding and repairing electric motors in Waterloo. He married Louise M. Simmons on September 20, 1936 in Swea City. The Peterson?s moved to Mason City in 1938, where Henry worked for Zack Brothers Electric and stayed there for seven years. In 1946 Henry founded Peterson Electric and Motor Service which he owned and operated until 1990 when Henry sold the business to his employees, they were in business until 2000. Henry?s main hobby was creating stained glass windows and stained glass lamps. He was an active volunteer at the Kinney Pioneer Museum, where he was the broom maker for over twenty five years. Henry is survived by his children: LeRoy Peterson and wife Peggy of Mesa, AZ, Robert D. Peterson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dorothy Woods and husband Steve of Mason City; granddaughter, Elizabeth Webb and husband Chris of Lombard, IL; step-grandchildren, Jeff and Jennifer; great granddaughter, Lillian Webb; step great grandchildren, Amanda and Emma; and sister, Maxine Ditsworth of Ft. Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Louise, grandson, Bobby Woods and brothers Donald and Russell Peterson.
