Alvin was discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp in November of 1945. The couple resided in Mason City for the rest of their lives. She dedicated her life to raising her 3 boys (thanks mom!). She also worked at Marigold Dairy for 25 years and upon retirement she faithfully volunteered at Mercy Hospital for the next 22 years. Herdis lived a full life enjoying her family, neighborhood, church and community. She also enjoyed going for walks, having coffee and visiting with her friends. She loved being around people and had never met a stranger. Herdis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1937. She was humble, proud and always put others first.
