Irene M. Dhondt

Irene M. Dhondt, 92, of Rockwell, died Friday, September 24, 2010, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, September 27, 2010, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Jim Allard, Chaplain Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM 6:00 PM, Sunday (September 26, 2010) at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Irene Dhondt Memorial Fund in care of the family. Irene was born June 24, 1918, in Latimer, IA, the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Mahncke) Passehl. She received her education at Latimer. Irene married Edward Dhondt on October 2, 1937. Together they farmed many years in the Rockwell area. She was a farm wife and a homemaker. Irene enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with her family. Irene is survived by her children: Lester Dhondt and special friend Carol Finn of Rockwell, Keith Dhondt and wife Judy of Rockwell, Ilene Scott and husband Ken of Clear Lake, and Lynn Dhondt and special friend Kimberly West of Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren: Debra Renberg and husband Bob of Rockwell, Dennis Dhondt and wife Becky of Rockwell, Dana Heimbuch and husband Rob of Rockwell, Shelly Zeitler and husband Kevin of Rockwell, Amy Hays and husband Cannon of Mason City, Angie Debuhr and husband Steve of Rockford, Jim Pringnitz and wife Rachel of Rochester, MN; great grandchildren: Daniel, Jackson, and Mackenzie Renberg, Samantha, Molly, and Rhett Dhondt, Mara and Max Heimbuch, Dawson Zeitler, Gunnar Hays, Kyle, Wyatt, and Danika Jo Debuhr, and Ean and Isaac Pringnitz. She was preceded in death by her husband: Edward, her parents, one sister, and one daughter-in-law.
