James E. “Jim” Snell, 53, of Mason City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2012. Private family graveside services will be held Friday, (August 17, 2012) at Elmwood-St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Rev. Ed Bard, Chaplain-Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday (August 16, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the James E. Jim was born July 5, 1959 in Mason City, Iowa the son of Sidney and Frieda (Arends) Snell. He graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1977. He was joined in marriage to Kay Proscovec on May 4, 1979 at Calvary Alliance Church in Mason City. Jim worked for Rockwell International from 1978 to 1993, holding many positions, the last being a Manufacturing Engineer, until they moved their operations back to Cedar Falls, IA. He also worked for FRC Component Products, Alexander Batteries, Winnebago Industries and Advance Component Technologies Inc. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and always put others before himself. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing pool with his friends. He was greatly loved by his children, who will remember his humor and the compassion he showed to all. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Snell of Mason City; two children, Heather and Curtis Snell; mother, Frieda Snell-Dow; sister, Janette (Kienzle) and her family, Kevin, Hannah and Danielle; 1/2 sister Carolyn Lane: mother and father-in-law, Jack and Bev Proscovec; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Budke and Gary Fuller, Coc Hebel, Jackie Starr; uncle, Maynard Arends and wife Dorothy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Snell; 1/2 brother, Richard Snell; grandparents, John and Hermiene Arends; Aunt, Mamie Arends: brother-in-law, Dave Starr and cousin, Theresa Arends; uncle, Hank Arends and wife Marlene.
